Two

So hard to believe this little munchkin,

is this little toddler:

To celebrate Kadence's 2nd birthday this year, we headed to the Great Wolf Lodge for a double family birthday bash with our fabulous friends. Great Wolf is an awesome hotel complete with an indoor and outdoor water park and even story time at night for the kids. In the past we have spent the day here but never the night. What fun! Here is where the girls slept. *Correction: were supposed to sleep. More on that later ;)

Both girls are such water babes they loved every minute. We played in this water tree house (Fort Mackenzie is the name!!!) And went down water slide after water slide after water slide. I think they went on the water slides at least 50 times a piece!

An extra fun bonus this year is that Kenzie is now tall enough to go on these slides with an adult.

AWESOME!! This was a game changer. Jason and I love water slides. In the past if one of us wanted to go on an adult slide, we were leaving the other with both kiddos on zone defense. Doable but not ideal. Especially for long periods of time. With Kenzie able to go with one of us we lived it up and were constantly volunteering "Uh, I'll go take Kenz on the slide..." WOO HOO! It was great!

Here is the double birthday bash crew! My dear friend Jen's birthday is two days after Kadence's so it was cupcakes and candles for both April girls!

The people at the restaurant sang to Kadence, brought her a sundae, and then she filled up on her own little cupcake too!

After dinner we took the girls down to hear story time before bed. How cute are they with their wolf ears??? Now, this should have been a bed time story (it was read at 8'o clock)...(remember that story I was going to come back too???) Here it is: Apparently water park+hotel+massive amounts of sugar+bunk beds=not sleeping (for Kadence). At home she sleeps in a crib. Contained. And we like it that way. Hotel=bunk bed=her knowing we are right around the wall=her not sleeping. She wanted in bed with us. The long and short of it? Guess who ended up in the cute little bunk bed? Yours truly. I woke up around 3am with the sheets around my neck. My legs were a little too long, they came untucked, and well let's just say we didn't have the best night sleep. Check us out:

If we look tired it's because we were. That's right friends, this is not the well rested J&J from Paris, this is reality! BUT this is where Great Wolf is genius! They probably suspect you will have little sleep and they had a Starbucks placed a good 1 minute walk from our room. Now say it with me: "1 venti quad carmel macchiato please...." Ahhh, my saving grace.

There is lots of howling at the Great Wolf Lodge. You hear a howl when the wave pool starts up, when a gigantic bucket of water is about to dump on the tree fort and other random times. During our little self timing picture sesh, we decided to do a little family howling ourselves. Because that what you do when you're sleep deprived. You howl.

All in all we had a ton of fun and a fabulous birthday celebration for Kadence!
